What Is Eggwish™? The Meaning, Story, and Inspiration Behind the Name

If you’ve come across the word Eggwish™ and found yourself wondering what it means, you’re not alone.

It’s not a traditional Easter term. It’s not something you grew up hearing. And that’s because Eggwish™ was created to represent something new, a more meaningful way for children to experience Easter.

At its heart, Eggwish™ is more than a name. It’s a reminder.

A reminder that who we’re becoming has been inside us all along.

The Meaning Behind the Word “Eggwish™”

The word Eggwish™ is a blend of two simple, symbolic ideas:

  • Egg: Standard Image for Easter that also represents life, growth, and new beginnings

  • Wish: Standard symolism tied to Holidays, but represents hope, identity, and who we long to become

When brought together, Eggwish™ becomes something deeper than either word alone.

It represents the quiet truth that children don’t need to become something entirely new…They’re growing into who they already are.

In the story, Eleanor and like every child, creates an Eggwish, a personal hope like becoming more confident, kind, brave, or patient. But instead of the wish being granted like magic or for something physical, something more meaningful happens: The story gently reveals that those qualities were already within them, they only needed to believe in themselves.

The Inspiration Behind Eggwish™

The idea for Eggwish™ began with a simple but important question:

What if Easter could feel more meaningful for children?

Not just exciting, but emotionally lasting.

I saw an opportunity, a gap in the Easter story industry. As a children’s author, I wanted to create a story that still felt magical and warm, but also gave children something real to hold onto, that empowered and uplifted them.

Children already understand who or what they want to be. They just need to be reminded that it’s possible.

Bringing this world to life visually was just as important as the message itself. The warmth, softness, and emotion of Eggwish™ were beautifully illustrated by Jasper Salazar, whose work helped transform the story into a place children can truly feel connected to.

During early readings, there were even moments where children connected with him being from the Philippines and excitedly shared their own ties with their heritage or that they themselves had been to the Philippines. It created an unexpected and meaningful sense of connection beyond the story itself.

A Different Kind of Easter Story

Traditional Easter stories often center around:

  • egg hunts

  • candy-filled baskets

  • and the excitement of what children receive

And while those traditions are meaningful and fun, Eggwish™ offers something more intentional.

I began to brainstorm ideas of, not only how this wish could come into being, but the process of where it would go. That was where the whimsical world called Easter Hollow, began:

  • wishes created with purpose

  • eggs designed with emotion

  • and characters like Everhop the Easter Bunny who help guide the journey

But instead of focusing on what children get, the story gently shifts the focus:

From receiving… to becoming.

Eggwish™ Story Summary

The story of Eggwish™ begins with a little girl named Eleanor, who awakens in the night, afraid after a bad dream. Her parents are present and gently reassure her, creating a moment of safety and comfort.

Before going back to sleep, Eleanor writes down her wish on special Wishing Paper and places it into her Nester Spring jar. As she drops it inside, something magical happens—her wish disappears.

The story then transitions into the hidden world of Easter Hollow, where Eleanor’s wish reappears as a single golden droplet.

There, Alili the faun discovers it and sprinkles Petal Dust, transforming the droplet into a simple white egg. The egg begins its journey, floating along the stream on a lily pad until it reaches the Peepettes.

Lolo, one of the Peepette artists, carefully paints what she feels onto the egg, turning it into something meaningful and unique.

The Eggwish continues traveling through the winding streams of Easter Hollow until it arrives at Everhop, the Easter Bunny.

At the Sunflower Vault, Everhop writes a heartfelt, affirming letter to Eleanor. He places the letter inside the egg along with a touch of Petal Dust, completing her Eggwish.

On Easter Day, Eleanor and her family go to meet Everhop for a special moment together. During their visit, Everhop presents her with her Eggwish, now inscribed with the words:

“I am Brave.”

When Eleanor returns home, she opens the egg with her mother and reads the letter inside. Together, they sprinkle the Petal Dust back into the Nester Spring jar, completing the cycle of her wish.

That night, Eleanor falls asleep believing that she is brave, knowing that a wish is simply a hope, a desire, a longing to be or become and that every wish, when belived in, will always grow.

The Heart of Eggwish™

At its core, Eggwish™ is a story about identity, growth, and self-belief.

It reminds children that:

  • they don’t need to wait to become something meaningful

  • the qualities they admire already exist within them

  • growth begins with belief, not perfection

The magic in Eggwish™ isn’t about changing who you are. It’s about recognizing who you’ve been all along.

Why the Name “Eggwish™” is more than you think?

The name Eggwish™ was created with intention.

It’s simple enough for a child to remember, yet meaningful enough to grow with them over time. And because it’s unique, it stands apart from traditional Easter language, allowing it to become something more than just a title.

Eggwish™ is becoming more than a book. It’s becoming a tradition.

A story families can return to each year. A moment children can reflect on. A reminder they can carry with them long after Easter has passed.

Bringing Eggwish™ to Life

Eggwish™ was created with the intention of bringing Everhop to life—not just through character entertainment and licensing opportunities, but through meaningful, interactive experiences.

While many families are used to simply taking photos with the Easter Bunny, I saw an opportunity to create something deeper.

Something that doesn’t begin and end in a single moment at the mall… But instead becomes a full-circle experience that families can take part in together.

From the very beginning, the vision for Eggwish™ was to extend beyond photo opportunities, inviting children and parents into the story itself.

To start the wish at home.To believe in it.And to watch it come full circle on Easter Day.

Because Eggwish™ isn’t just about a moment…

It’s about creating a tradition.
